Summary and Learning Objectives

Summary:

The Internal Family Systems (IFS) model of therapy is an evidence-based model that is rapidly growing in popularity. This intensive will provide licensed mental health professionals an overview of the IFS model of therapy integrated within a Christian worldview. The theory of the model will be thoroughly discussed and key concepts of the model, such as parts and Self will be explored. Attendees will also have an opportunity to learn the steps of the IFS model, adapted to allow for integration with willing Christian clients. Opportunities for experiential learning will be provided, giving attendees the opportunity to better understand and connect to some of their own parts. Attendees will be given guidance and demonstration of how to begin to use the IFS model with clients.

Learning Objectives:

Describe the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model of therapy and research data showing its effectiveness in treatment

Outline the model’s key assumptions and core concepts of Self, parts, unburdening, internal harmony, and Self-leadership.

Analyze the various internal parts of manager, firefighter, and exile as well as the concept of Self through experiential learning.

Develop a personal faith-based approach to the IFS model by associating Biblical concepts to the IFS model’s assumptions and concepts for willing Christian clients.
