Summary and Learning Objectives

Summary:

Emotions are a part of daily life for all clients, but understanding these emotions and how to work with them can be difficult at times for willing Christian clients. Starting with a sound biblical and theological foundation of what it means to be made in the Image of God, ministry leaders and coaches can then look at what emotions are, where they come from and healthy ways to manage them and make them work for their clients rather than against them. In this workshop, participants will examine the emerging science of Emotional and Relational Intelligence (ERI) and practically unpack the four core parts of emotional maturity: Self-Awareness, Self-management, Relational-awareness, and Relationship Management. With that essential foundation, participants will be able to focus on helping their clients understanding and managing anger, which is the second most frequently mentioned emotion in the Bible. In fact, human anger is always a secondary emotion with the three primary causes being, hurt, frustration, fear, or a combination. Getting to the root cause of the anger is essential to helping clients find freedom and flourish in their everyday lives.
