Summary
People are hurting today in unprecedented ways and virtually epidemic numbers. A litany of clinically significant mental and relational health problems exists not only in society at large but within the Church. Yet, in most congregations, these overwhelming human needs are typically and historically cloaked in an insidious and destructive combination of silence, secrecy, shame, and stigma. This presentation utilizes a biblically and clinically integrated schema to understand the struggle’s scope, sources, and solutions. Then various innovative methods and models of mental and relational health ministry to implement and activate service delivery by psychologists and other mental health professionals within the Church are delineated.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
- Understand the overwhelming scope of mental and relational health problems extant in the Church and how drastically underserved these needs are from both pastoral and clinical perspectives
- Identify crucial ministry system dynamics with emphasis on service delivery by psychologists and other licensed mental health professionals
- Demonstrate knowledge of various methods and models of providing clinically oriented best practices for mental and relational healthcare in the Church for both pastors and clinicians
